Bertie Wooster downs a quick cocktail and the effect is magical; he feels he can take on anyone. Unfortunately Stilton Cheesewright is threatening to tear him apart and Dutch courage might not be enough as the crisis dawns!

A Jeeves and Wooster novel

The beefy ‘Stilton’ Cheesewright has drawn Bertie Wooster as red-hot favourite in the Drones club annual darts tournament – which is lucky for Bertie because otherwise Stilton would have beaten him to a pulp and buttered the lawn with him. Stilton does not, after all like men who he thinks are trifling with his fiancée’s affections.

Meanwhile Bertie has committed a more heinous offence by growing a moustache, and Jeeves strongly disapproves – which is unfortunate, because Jeeves’s feudal spirit is desperately needed. Bertie’s Aunt Dahlia is trying to sell her magazine Milady’s Boudoir to the Trotter Empire and still keep her amazing chef Anatole out of Lady Trotter’s clutches. And Bertie? Bertie simply has to try to hold onto his moustache and hope he gets to the end in one piece.

Bertie withdraws to the village of Maiden Eggesford on doctor's orders to rest and relax. Only the presence of the irrepressible Aunt Dahlia shatters the rustic peace. However nice they may be, Aunts are certainly not gentlemen.

‘Why have you got to go anywhere? Are you on the run from the police?’
‘Doctor’s orders.’

When Bertie Wooster overdoes metropolitan life, his doctor prescribes fresh air in the depths of the country. But after moving with Jeeves to his cottage at Maiden Eggesford, Bertie soon finds himself surrounded by aunts – not only his redoubtable Aunt Dahlia but an aunt of Jeeves’s too.

Add a hyper-sensitive racehorse, a pompous cat and a decidedly bossy fiancée – and all the ingredients are present for a plot in which aunts can exert their terrible authority. But Jeeves, of course, can cope with everything – even aunts, and even the country.

‘The best English comic novels of the century’ Sebastian Faulks
‘Wodehouse always lifts your spirits, no matter how high they happen to be already’ Lynne Truss

Bertie Wooster is one of nature's gentlemen, so when Gussie Fink-Nottle gets himself into a spot of bother with the law, Bertie helps out - by impersonating Gussie! The plan seems to be working, until Gussie turns up - impersonating Bertie! Only the massive brain of Jeeves can set things right.

__________________________________
A Jeeves and Wooster novel

‘It’s hard to single out one book as the entire Jeeves and Wooster collection is Bach Rescue Remedy in literary form, but this tale of romantic imbroglio is a priceless hoot… Every sentence is a perfectly wrought delight.’ Independent

At Deverill Hall, an idyllic Tudor manor in the picture-perfect village of King’s Deverill, impostors are in the air. The prime example is man-about-town Bertie Wooster, doing a good turn to Gussie Fink-Nottle by impersonating him while he enjoys fourteen days away from society after being caught taking an unscheduled dip in the fountains of Trafalgar Square. Bertie is of course one of nature’s gentlemen, but the stakes are high: if all is revealed, there’s a danger that Gussie’s simpering fiancée Madeline may turn her wide eyes on Bertie instead.

It’s a brilliant plan – until Gussie himself turns up, imitating Bertram Wooster. After that, only the massive brain of Jeeves (himself in disguise) can set things right.

The one thing that could be expected to disturb the peace of life at Blandings is the incursion of imposters. Blandings has imposters like other houses have mice. On this occasion there are two of them - both intent on a dangerous enterprise.

‘Without at least one impostor on the premises, Blandings Castle is never itself’

Welcome to the world of the delightfully dotty Lord Emsworth, his bone-headed younger son and his long-suffering secretary.

Having returned home with a valuable Egyptian amulet, Lord Emsworth finds his home contains not one but two imposters intent on taking it off his hands. But with no real sense of how the amulet came to be in his pocket in the first place, things get a lot more complicated very quickly…

Written by P.G. Wodehouse, this story follows the adventures of Bertie Wooster. His Aunt Agatha decides it is time for Bertie to abandon his life of frivolity in favour of wedding bells. Can Jeeves save him from marriage?

—

‘I want you to meet my nephew, Bertie Wooster,’ said Aunt Agatha. ‘He has just arrived. Such a surprise! I had no notion that he intended coming…’

The Hon. Freddie Threepwood is poised to make his debut as a jewel thief, but he is not alone. Blandings Castle is full of criminals and impostors, intent on stealing Aunt Constance's diamond necklace and it is up to Psmith to catch the thief.

‘Is there a better P. G. Wodehouse character than Psmith? No there is not. Thank you for agreeing’ John Self

‘An incomparable and timeless genius’ Kate Mosse
_____________________________________

‘It seems to me that you and I were made for each other. I am your best friend’s best friend and we both have a taste for stealing other people’s jewellery.’

Lady Constance Keeble has both an imperious manner and a valuable diamond necklace. The precarious peace of Blandings is shattered when her necklace becomes the object of desire for some well-connected jewel thieves – among them the Honourable Freddie Threepwood, who wants the reward money for a bookmaking business, and Psmith, the elegant socialist. On patrol with the impossible task of bringing order to Blandings is the Efficient Baxter, whose strivings lead to a memorable encounter with the castle flowerpots.
