YOU HAVE THE POWER TO CHANGE YOUR LIFE, BUT KNOWING WHERE YOU WANT TO GO IS NOT ENOUGH. YOU ALSO NEED TO KNOW HOW TO GET THERE.

The Power to Change shows how to use Stoic principles to create a successful life and provides a clear road map and directions to get there. It will guide you in designing a life that flows well and dealing with problems that arise in everyday living.

More than two thousand years ago, a group of philosophers known as the Stoics analyzed life’s predicaments and came up with simple solutions. The principles they identified were so profound that they formed the basis of many major modern psychotherapies. They are easy to use and powerful, and they can be applied to modern life and its problems. Often we don’t pay much attention to simple principles because we don’t believe simple things can be effective, but when understood and consistently practiced, simple principles can have a profound effect on our lives.

The problems are real. The solutions are accessible. Each chapter in The Power to Change is bite-sized and actionable, focusing on common, day-to-day challenges – from anxiety, self-sabotage and overthinking to resilience, habits and productivity – and giving you easy-to-apply tools to overcome them.

Practicing them is not difficult. But practicing consistently is where most of us fail. The Power to Change is packed with tools and exercises to help you practice consistently, bypass every motivational plateau and reach the big payoff.

Hard-won know-how and experience seem to count for nothing in the eyes of everyone from high-profile business leaders to populist politicians. But what evidence do we have that this perception is right? Amanda Goodall has been asking this question for the last twenty years. Her research has taken her from boardrooms and F1 race tracks to hospitals and higher education. She has proven time and again that, when it comes to top performance, we need people - especially bosses - with the expertise that only comes from a deep understanding of the worlds in which they operate. That's what makes the people around them feel happier, better appreciated and more productive. In 'Credible', Goodall identifies the key characteristics of expert leaders and provides a model for career development and success based on going deep into a business, working hard and knowing your stuff.

From boardrooms and F1 race tracks to healthcare and scientific innovation, her research has proven time and again that when it comes to leadership, we need bosses with a deep understanding of the worlds in which they operate. That’s what makes the people around them feel happier, more motivated and productive.

Credible identifies the key characteristics of good leaders and a new model for career success, by combining expertise with the leadership development experts need to succeed.

In a world short of trust, Goodall shows us that when it comes to leadership, credible experts are needed more than ever.

Steve Jobs called Jony Ive his “spiritual partner at Apple.” The London-born genius was the second-most powerful person at Apple and the creative force who most embodies Jobs’s spirit, the man who designed the products adopted by hundreds of millions the world over: the iPod, iPad, MacBook Air, the iMac G3, and the iPhone. In the wake of his close collaborator’s death, the chief designer wrestled with grief and initially threw himself into his work designing the new Apple headquarters and the Watch before losing his motivation in a company increasingly devoted more to margins than to inspiration.

In many ways, Cook was Ive’s opposite. The product of a small Alabama town, he had risen through the ranks from the supply side of the company. His gift was not the creation of new products. Instead, he had invented countless ways to maximize a margin, squeezing some suppliers, persuading others to build factories the size of cities to churn out more units. He considered inventory evil. He knew how to make subordinates sweat with withering questions.

Jobs selected Cook as his successor, and Cook oversaw a period of tremendous revenue growth that has lifted Apple’s valuation to $3 trillion. He built a commanding business in China and rapidly distinguished himself as a master politician who could forge global alliances and send the world’s stock market into freefall with a single sentence.

Author Tripp Mickle spoke with more than 200 current and former Apple executives, as well as figures key to this period of Apple’s history, including Trump administration officials and fashion luminaries such as Anna Wintour while writing After Steve. His research shows the company’s success came at a cost. Apple lost its innovative spirit and has not designed a new category of device in years. Ive’s departure in 2019 marked a culmination in Apple’s shift from a company of innovation to one of operational excellence, and the price is a company that has lost its soul.

The communication and leadership secrets of Amazon founder Jeff Bezos and how to master them, from Carmine Gallo the bestselling author of Talk Like TED.

Jeff Bezos built Amazon. A dreamer who turned a bold idea into the world’s most influential company, a brand that likely touches your life every day. As a student of leadership and communication, he learned to elevate the way Amazonians write, collaborate, innovate, pitch and present. He created a scalable model that grew from a small team in a Seattle garage to one of the world’s largest employers.

The Bezos Blueprint by Carmine Gallo reveals the communication strategies that Jeff Bezos pioneered to fuel Amazon’s astonishing growth. As one of the most innovative and visionary entrepreneurs of our time, Bezos reimagined the way leaders write, speak and motivate teams and customers.

The communication tools Bezos created are so effective that former Amazonians who worked directly with Bezos adopted them as blueprints to start their own companies. Now, these tools are available to you.

‘Carmine Gallo examines more than two decades of Bezos letters to reveal the writing and communication strategies that should be taught to everyone with a story to tell’ – Marc Randolph, co-founder and first CEO of Netflix
